In the future, oils+fats, the International Trade Fair for the
Production and Processing of Oils and Fats made from Renewable Resources, will
be held every two years. The next oils+fats will be held from October 5-7, 2011. By
making this change, the organizer, Messe München GmbH (MMG), is accommodating
the wishes of exhibiting companies.
oils+fats, the only exhibition
platform for the oils and fats industry in the world, has been held every year
since 2007. The next event was originally planned for November 2010. By
changing to a two-year interval, MMG is helping to realize a plan that the oils
and fats industry has been pursuing for quite some time, i.e. better
coordinating the timing of its most important industry gatherings. "In this
regard, holding the fair less frequently is a strategic decision,"
explains Dr. Reinhard Pfeiffer, the responsible Managing Director at MMG: "We
are easing the burden on companies and making it easier to coordinate the
exhibition schedule in general."
In the future, the most important
events for the oils and fats industry will take place every two years, and
locations will alternate between Europe/South America and Asia/United States.
That results in the following schedule for 2010 and 2011: the AOCS' (American
Oil Chemist Society) Annual Meeting & Expo (USA) and the Malaysian Palm Oil
Board's International Palm Oil Congress (Asien) are on the agenda for 2010, and
the industry will meet at oils+fats in Europe and at the Latin American
Congress on Fats & Oils in South America in 2011.
Dr. Frank Amoneit, Managing Director, Euro Fed Lipid (European
Federation of the Science and Technology of Lipids), welcomes holding oils+fats
at a different interval: "We have always pursued this solution. The new
schedule that this makes possible will allow us to better address manufacturers
of oils and fats around the world."
Exhibiting companies
also consider the new two-year interval a beneficial solution. "From a
business-management point of view, this solution saves money and is
effective," explains Günter Simon, Managing Director, Harburg-Freudenberger
Maschinenbau GmbH and Chairman of the Technical Advisory Board for oils+fats. "oils+fats
is still the most important information and business platform that our industry
has in Europe."
Despite the fact that the fair's
schedule has been changed and oils+fats has been pushed back to 2011, the 8th
Euro Fed Lipid Congress will still take place in Munich as planned from
November 21-24, 2010. The congress is organized by the European Federation of
the Science and Technology of Lipids. Due to the schedule change for oils+fats,
the Euro Fed Lipid Congress, which is an annual event, will be rounded out by a
table-top exhibition this year. Additional information about the congress is
available online at
www.eurofedlipid.org.
Application documents for oils+fats
2011, which is being held at the M,O,C, Event Center in Munich-Freimann, are
expected to go out during the first half of 2010. In 2013, oils+fats will be
held in September—at the same time as drinktec, the World's
Leading Trade Fair for Beverage and Liquid Food Technology, as it was in
2009.
